Otava book store, Helsinki

Otava’s flagship bookstore was built in the space of an old printing hall on Helsinki’s Uudenmaankatu. The publishing company’s entrance hall lounge space was also renovated. Designed by Karl Lindahl and Valter Thomé and protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency, the refurbishment works had to be carried out in a manner appropriate to the character of the Jugendstil building. The Finnish Heritage Agency was very involved in the project. Konkret was responsible for the project’s principal, architectural, interior and furniture design.
