Linnankatu Arts Academy, Turku
In the renovation and repair project carried out in 2020 - Linnankatu Art Campus 1, some of the spaces were converted for the use of Turku University of Applied Sciences’ circus education. The design had to take into account the requirements of different uses and user groups for the space.
The change in use required the implementation of a new escape staircase in the protected facade. Additionally, a new goods and passenger elevator, a stair lift, and a new accessible toilet were added to the building.
The changes were carried out with the same design principles as the original 1990s project: preserving the original architecture of the protected factory buildings and the atmosphere of the shipyard hall in cooperation with museum authorities.
In the renovation and repair project carried out in 2021 - Linnankatu Art Campus 2, significant modifications were made to the Sigyn Hall. The hall was originally designed for the performance and training of acoustic music, but the accessibility and versatility of the spaces were emphasized.
In the renovation and repair project carried out in 2022 - Linnankatu Art Campus 3, modifications were made to section G of the building, which was expanded with IVKH, and to section H of the building.
In the repair project carried out in 2023 - Linnankatu Art Campus external works, among other things, the pillars and foundations of the 270-meter-long ropeway were renewed. Additionally, repair measures were carried out on the courtyard deck of Varvintori and the parking garage below it
