Joensuu railway yard, Joensuu
As part of the renovation of the Joensuu railway yard, the tracks and safety systems will be modernised and functionality will be improved through new rail arrangements. In addition, the platforms will be made accessible, raised and covered. A new covered gangway will be built in the station area to allow access to three platforms. A new tunnel will be built under the railway to offer access to the Sulkuniemi area. Because of the changes to the tracks, a new bridge must be built between two existing bridges. The load-bearing capacity of all five existing bridges will be analysed as part of the project. In addition, 1.8 kilometres of noise barrier is being designed for the centre in the area of the railway yards serving passenger and cargo transport.
